Dear Gala/Lobby Day Registrant -
The California Asian Pacific American Bar Association (Cal-APABA) regretfully informs you that its 2020 Gala and Lobby Day – which were scheduled to take place next week, from March 16 to 17, 2020, in Sacramento, California – have been cancelled. The Gala will be rescheduled. Lobby Day will be replaced with an advocacy campaign that is currently being developed.
Cal-APABA’s decision was a difficult one, but was based on the current situation regarding COVID-19 in Sacramento County. Sacramento County has declared a public health emergency and local emergency to ensure that it has appropriate resources and funding to readily respond to cases of COVID-19 identified in the area. Further, we understand that state and local officials are issuing guidance regarding the planning and hosting of public events in light of this situation.
The health and welfare of our attendees are of the utmost importance to our organization. By rescheduling the Gala and replacing Lobby Day this year, we intend to follow the guidance of the governmental entities addressing the continually evolving situation regarding COVID-19 in the United States.
For those of you who made a reservation under Cal-APABA’s room block at the Holiday Inn Sacramento Downtown – Arena, we will be cancelling the rooms under that room block. A new room block will be issued in connection with the rescheduled Gala.
Thank you for your understanding. We will contact you when we have a new date for the Gala. We will also contact you with details regarding our advocacy campaign.
Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 310-923-4341 or by email at Zathrina@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Zathrina Perez
2020 President
